So long 2014! Happy New 2015!
That… that was fast. Really fast. I can’t believe how fast 2014 blew by. That was way too fast.
What an absolutely crazy ride 2014 has been. I cannot believe how ridiculously busy, and at the same time how rewarding it’s became at the end.
Some crazy things that happend this year included:
- Leaving my job as a web developer to become a full-time mobile developer that’s since shipped at least 7 apps to various app stores.
- Moving house. Twice. ^_^;
- After going through 2 years of construction, moving into my shiny new apartment in the middle of the Perth CBD.
- Almost re-engineering iComics from scratch for iOS 7 and releasing it in November (Just in time for iOS 8 ^_^;)
I feel like if anything, most of 2014 felt like a bit of a ‘maintenance’ year. A lot of amazing stuff happened, and while it definitely felt like progress was being made, a lot of it ended up being a bit of a catch-up to things that had been left unchecked for far too long (Like finally moving house. And finally finishing iComics for iOS 7. XD).
As such, with all that being said, done, and out of the way now, I feel like I’m enterting 2015 with a clean slate. Out with the old, in with the new. A whole new year of opportunities. Exciting times ahead.
In terms of setting some goals for next year, there are a lot of things I’d like to strive for:
- Losing weight
Annoyingly, after moving into my new place, my weight’s been going up. Not down. This may be the motivation I actually need to try and get that in check. Losing 10kg would be great, losing 15kg would be amazing. - Throwing my hat into the startup space
Moving to the CBD, getting a Spacecubed community membership, and even making new contacts via my work with iComics, I want to spend a lot more time next year getting to learn the logistics of the startup culture. - Make iComics the best comic reading experience on iOS
I think we’re doing really well at this point, but there’s still a tremendous feature list to work through before even approaching the idea of calling it ‘the best’. - Do more game/dev streaming
Being in the city, my apartment has a really nice internet connection that makes streaming actually feasible. I want to be able to use that to not only provide more exposure to some of my projects, but also a great motivator to get more work done. - Do more with my YouTube channel
I dunno about this one yet. I had a couple of thoughts at the start of this year, but nothing ever came of it. I’ll try again next year. XD - Play more video games
I’ve got all my rigs finally set up in my new apartment, so it’s now high-time to seriously tackle that pile-of-shame. 🙂 - Actually work out what the hell’s happening with UberGames
The little mod team myself and a bunch of mates have been doing since 2003 has been pretty idle lately. I feel like I ended up abandoning it after the whole iPokédex incident, and then even more-so when moving to iComics. We’re going to have to work out what we’re going to do there.
All in all, I hope everyone had a great 2014! Let’s all make 2015 the best one yet!
